Umesh Mhambre dies in Mumbai hospital

Panaji, Sep 18 (UNI) Goa Journalist Union President Umesh Mhambre, who was admitted to Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai for removal of an abdominal cyst, died there today.

He was 48 and is survived by his wife.

He was chief reporter of the English daily Navhind Times.

He was shifted to Mumbai for removal of the abdominal cyst surgery, which however could not be performed due to development of some infection.

His body would be brought here tomorrow for the last rites.

The GUJ and the Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) have condoled the sudden demise of the senior journalist and conveyed their sympathy with the bereaved family.
