Three BLFM rebels injured in counter attack in Tripura

Agartala, Sep 18 (UNI) Three Mizoram based Brue National Front of Mizoram (BLFM) rebels and a woman were injured in an encounter with security forces at Barchera in Tripura's north district yesterday, police today said.

Security forces along with Special Police Officers (SPOs) acting on a tip off raided a training camp of BLFM at Barcherra where some 35 rebels were undergoing arms training at a field. Noticing the presence of the security forces, the rebels started indiscriminate firing which was immediately retaliated by the jawans.

The encounter lasted about fifteen minutes in which three BLFM ultras sustained bullet injuries. Another tribal woman also injured in the cross firing, police added.

All the injured were taken to Kailaishahar hospital.

The rebels were belonged to Reang refugee camp, who were given shelter by the Tripura government, few years ago. Reang tribals sneaked into this state following ethnic violence in their home state.
