Saifuddin Soz to inspects three rivers on Bangladesh areas
New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Water Resources Ministers of India and Bangladesh will inspect the situation about the three rivers in Chittagong area of ''Bangladesh to understand the problems faced by the people of that country for the next three days.
Prof Saifuddin Soz who together with his Bangladesh counterpart Hafizuddin Ahmad, in West Bengal and Tripura problems soil erosion, siltation, lift irrigation and bad embankments for about 21 KMs on the Indo-Bangladesh borders, caused by the rivers Ichimati, Feni and Mhouri.
"For the next three days we will see the situation in Bangladesh side and these visits will certainly generate goodwill between the two sides", Prof Soz said.
He said his Bangladeshi counterpart was ''very overwhelmed'' to discuss the problems of villagers on Indian side because the language and the culture of the two countries were so very similar.
Prof Soz also expessed hope that the visit envisaged by the Indo-Bangladesh Joint River Commission on 36 rivers flowing on two sides might come up with joint statements by the two countries after the visit. "I go with an open mind and try to understand the problems faced by the otherside", he remarked.
