Rajan Chellappa is the AIADMK candidate for Assemby bypolls

Chennai, Sep 18 (UNI) Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today announced V V Rajan Chellappa as the party's candidate for the October 11 Assembly bypolls to the Madurai Central seat.

In a statement here, she said Mr Rajan, who is also the Madurai City District Secretary, has been nominated as the party's official candidate for the seat.

The bypolls were necessitated following the death of former Speaker P T R Palanivel Rajan, who was elected to the State Legislature in the May Assembly polls.
