Orissa to set up special security wing for VVIPs
Bhubaneswar, Sep 18 (UNI) The Orissa government was contemplating setting up a special dedicated security wing to look after the VVIPs in the state.
According to State Home Secretary Tarun Kanti Mishra, the special wing comprising 250 policemen, drawn from the Orissa Police service, would work under the Director of Intelligence.
A Superintendent of Police, in-charge of security, would be appointed in the dedicated security wing to look after the security of the VVIPs.
Meanwhile, the state government had decided to formulate a new recruitment rule for appointing constables in the police service and various battalions in the state.
The decision to have a transparent recruitment rule was taken at a meeting between the Home Secretary and the Director General of Police in the wake of the recent vigilance chargesheet against a former Director General of Police and a former Additional Director General of Police besides several other police officials for their involvement in the irregularities in the appointment of constables in the police department.
Official sources said the state has no definite recruitment rule for the appointment of constables in the police service. The new rules would be implemented soon after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave his approval.
