Naga integration movement affecting education in Manipur: Minister

Imphal, Sep 18 (UNI) The movement for integration of Naga inhabited areas has seriously affected education in primary schools in four districts of Manipur, state's education minister L Nandakumar informed the House today.

Replying to a call attention motion the minister said some NGOs were demanding the introduction of Nagaland Board in schools in Manipur. To press for their demands the NGOs burnt text books and attacked schools. Such activists were ruining the future of their own children, he said.

The state government would extend all help to the students in getting admission in places where there were no such stir, he added.

The Minister appealed to all not to destroy the career of the students.

L Ibomcha, member of state Assembly, raising a call attention on the issue said he toured the districts dominated by Nagas and found that the schools were deserted. Education has collapsed in this area, he said.

It is not possible for Manipur to introduce Nagaland Board and the Manipur Board cannot be introduced in other states, he added.
