More employement will be created: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 18 (UNI) The Kerala government has taken various measures to wipe out unemployment of qualified youths, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan informed the State Assembly today.
The government was planning to create maximum employment opportunities by capitalising on the development possibilities in Information Technology (IT), Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS) and Tourism sectors, he said while replying to questions by Mr A Pradeep Kumar of the CPI(M).
The government was expecting to provide employment to 1.50 lakh people directly in IT and ITeS sectors alone, he said adding that around 50,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly would be created in the Tourism sector.
Mr Achuthanandan said the government was also planning to start a training centre under the Info Park and through the ITeS Habitat under the State IT Mission. Besides this, training would be imparted to qualified youths to make them experts in the field through the Industrial Training Department.
Plans were afoot to set up a Technocity by acquiring 500 acres of land and to encourage private investment in Infopark and Techno Park, he added.
