Monsoon vigorous in AP as Low Pressure persists

Hyderabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Much to the relief of drought-hit farmers, heavy rains lashed Andhra Pradesh again in the last 24 hrs, under the influence of a low pressure area.

According to the MET office here with the low pressure area over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood persisting, widespread rain with isolated heavy to very heavy falls, is likely to occur over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next two to three days.

According to Meteorological Centre Director M Satya Kumar, Isolated heavy to very heavy rain was likely in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam and Karimnagar during the next 48 hrs, the Centre added.

Isolated heavy rain was likely in the remaining districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the same period.

Moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers were likely at most places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers were likely at a few places over Rayalaseema.

Venkatapuram and Eturnagaram recorded maximum heavy rainfall of 35 and 34 cm followed by Perur 22 cm, Chinnoor 15 cm Kaleswaram 11 cm Asifabad 10 cm Mancherial and Tadepalligudem 8 cm each, Kakinada, Ramagundam, Karimnagar and Manthani, Luxettipet and Sirpur, Ranasthalam 7 cm each.
