Monsoon turns weak in Northwest
Chandigarh, Sep 18 (UNI) Rains eluded Punjab and Haryana as monsoon turned weak at its fag end in the region during the past 24 hours.
However, light to moderate rain lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh overnight, bringing a considerable fall in the temperature in the hilly state. Dharamsala, the headquarters of Kangra district, recorded 42.2 mm rainfall while Gamroor measured 9.0mm.
Hot weather conditions prevailed in Punjab and Haryana with no rainfall reported from anywhere from the two states. The temperature stayed above normal in the region in the absence of rains.
Chandigarh recorded four degrees above normal temperature at 35.6 degrees C while Shimla registered 23.0 degrees, three degrees up.
Ludhiana, Patiala and Amritsar reported one degree above normal temperatures.
The Met office has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at few places in Himachal Pradesh and isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours.
