Misbehaviour charge, TDP MLA goes underground

Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 18 (UNI) The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Legislator Karanam Balaram has gone underground following complaints that he had allegedly misbehaved with District collector Udaya Lakshmi.

Following a complaint from the Collector, the district police authorities had withdrawn the two gunmen, provided to the MLA for security purposes.

The charge against Mr Balaram was that he had allegedly abused the Collector in the presence of the media while leading a demonstration by the displaced people of the Gundlakamma project.

A case has been registered at the Maddipadu police station against the MLA.

As he had gone underground, police had ordered him to surrender.

Meanwhile, the top district authorities resorted to a day's token strike to condemn the incident.

The TDP, however, alleged that its office at Ongole was ransacked allegedly by 'Congress goondas' at the instigation of the Collector.
