Maoists beat up truck driver, attendant

Krishnanagar, Sep 18 (UNI) Tension gripped the Kotwali police station area after some Maoists beat up the truck driver and his attendant when the jute laden truck was passing through the area.

Police said the ultras fled from the area after the security forces arrived at the spot on being informed by the local people.

The injured driver and his attendant were admitted to the nearby medical centre.

The Maoists were observing 24-hour bandh in the area in support of their demands.

Through their posters the ultras demanded the state government to stall the rise in prices of jute products and re-open the closed factories.

The ultras also protested for handing over of farmlands for industrial projects.
