Maid escapes with valuables worth Rs 23.5 lakh

Mumbai, Sep 18: A 64-year-old maid, working for builder Rizvi, fled with valuables worth Rs 23.5 lakh at Meena Mahal Bunglow, Andheri in western suburbs recently.

According to a complaint registered by complainant Ms Meena Akhatar Rizvi (60), yesterday, accused Mehrunissa (64), was working as a maid with them for last 24 years. On July 5, by using duplicate keys, she removed jewellery, including 10 gold rings, five diamond rings, 12 gold chains, 20 gold bangles, gold mangalsutra and Rs six lakh cash, all worth Rs 23.5 lakh, the police said here today.

Ms Rizvi has also alleged that the accused had committed the crime with the help of her daughter-in-law and niece.

Bandra police have registered a complaint of robbery against Mehrunissa and three others and further investigations are on.
