Law and order situation in Tripura satisfactory: Governor
Agartala, Sep 18 (UNI) Tripura Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya has expressed satisfaction over law and order situation in the state.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Raj Bhavan today, Mr Sahaya praised the state security personnel for curbing terrorism with the help of the paramilitary forces.
''You can feel the difference in law and order situation in the state. The credit goes to the security forces,'' the Governor said.
''There was no crime during Ram rajya. But history tells that crime is somewhat associated with mankind. What matters most is the rate of crime,'' he added.
Replying to a question about the growing rate of atrocities and crime against women, Mr Sahaya expressed concern over various atrocities committed against the women in the state.
He further said that the state government is working in association with the Mahila Commission and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in this regard.
''Hopefully we will see positive results in this aspect,'' the Governor mentioned.
The Governor expressed deep concern over the lack of coverage by the national media. ''News from states like Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram hardly find place in national papers as well as channels.
Why is there no coverage regarding Tripura,'' questioned Mr Sahaya.
