Lalu announces Railway Chair in IIM-A

Ahmedabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, who was here to lecture students of the IIM, Ahmedabad on the success story of Railway, today announced the setting up of a Railway Chair for project studies in related areas.

''Considering the interest of the students and the faculty, we have decided to set up a permanent chair at IIM-A for railway-related research,'' he said, addressing reporters after his lecture on railway management.

He commended the work of Prof Raghuram, faculty member who was a member of the Rakesh Mohan Committee which worked on, among other things, a fresh financing plan to make the Railways a commercially viable organisation. The professor has also conducted a detailed study on the Railway turnaround, which has been included in the curriculum for post-graduate prigramme in management for executives.
