Jabil starts construction for manufacturing facility
New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) St Petersburg-based electronic product solutions provider -- Jabil has launched construction of a new facility in Chennai after breaking ground recently, with a total investment of more than 70 million dollars, to undertake large-scale production for some of the world's biggest brands.
The facility will be operational in early 2007 and will occupy more than 4,00,000 square feet.
''The new facility will include a production area with state-of-the-art equipment running the latest manufacturing processes, a dedicated display for demonstrating design and product development capabilities in Asia and an office complex to serve administrative needs,'' Jabil Asia Regional President Bill Muir said.
Till construction is over, production will continue in Jabil's current Chennai location.
Senior management from Jabil as well as customers and local governmental officials attended the ground-breaking.
Jabil, the largest electronic manufacturing services provider in India, has manufacturing locations in Mumbai, Ranjangaon, Chennai and Pune with over 5,000 employees.
Presently, Jabil has 12 other manufacturing facilities in Asia and a total of 53 global operations.
