Haryana to set up Food Processing Research Institute
Chandigarh, Sep 18 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to set up a Food Processing Research Institute for developing new techniques of food processing besides imparting training to youth in this section.
This was stated by the Governor Dr A R Kidwai after inaugurating the building of LT Overseas Ltd near Bahalgarh in district Sonepat today.
Dr Kidwai stressed upon the need of using latest techniques of food processing in the present era of globalisation and liberalisation.
He said the strengthening of economy in the field of agricultural produce could help the country in staying ahead of others during the time of competition.
He remarked that Haryana is leading in the field of agricultural produce and there were ample opportunities in the field of food processing in the state.
He emphasised upon the need of paying special attention to the quality of the products so as to increase the demand of Indian products in foreign markets. Use of latest techniques would play a very important role in improving and maintaining the quality of products and services, he added.
Dr Kidwai said the use of latest technology would help the farmers in fetching competitive rates for their produce at the national as well as international market.
