GE Shipping's Indian subsidiary to buy 4 AHTSVs
New Delhi, Sep 18: GE Shipping today said its wholly-owned subsidiary Greatship India Ltd (GIL) has contracted to buy four 80T Anchor Handling Tug cum Supply Vessels (AHTSV) from Singapore-based Labroy Shipbuilding&Engineering Pte Ltd.
The vessels are expected to join the company's fleet immediately on delivery from the yard during first-half of calendar year 2009.
This brings the current order book of GIL including the secondhand acquisitions to 10 OSVs - eight new buildings (two PSVs and six AHTSVs) and two secondhand modern PSVs.
Earlier, the company announced that its offshore division took delivery of a new built Platform Supply Vessel (PSV), named 'Malaviya Thirty' from Brattvaag Skipsverft, Norway.
With the delivery of 'Malaviya Thirty', the company's fleet strength stands at 74 vessels - 35 offshore vessels (two Exploratory Rigs, 21 Offshore Support Vessels, 11 Harbour Tugs and a Construction Barge) and 39 ships (30 Tankers and nine Dry bulk carriers).
