Former SEBI director Pratip Kar joins Tata Group
Mumbai, Sept 18 (UNI) The Tata Group today announced the appointment of Mr Pratip Kar as Dean - Finance&Corporate Governance of the Tata Management Training Centre (TMTC) with immediate effect.
TMTC is considered the hub of knowledge and training excellence of the Tata Group.
Prior to joining TMTC, Mr Kar was with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in the capacity of a Director,.
says a Tata press release.
An MBA in Finance, Mr Kar (55) has also done his post- graduation in solid state physics with a year's post-MSc experience in nuclear physics from the Calcutta University. He also holds a banking certificate from the Indian Institute of Bankers.
He began his career as a lecturer in physics, at St Xaviers' College and had a brief stint in a commercial bank, before joining the Industrial Finance Corporation of India in 1977.
Post IFCI, he moved on to the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) in 1981 to work in the field of project finance.
He left IDBI, to join SEBI when it was initially set up in 1988.
He became the Executive Director of SEBI in 1992.
