Digvijay shocks top seed Shaolin in Monsanto talent series
Chandigarh, Sep 18 (UNI) Digvijay Mehta of Himachal Pradesh pulled off the biggest upset as he shocked top seeded Shaolin Chandom of Chandigarh in two straight sets in the boys Under-16 singles first-round match in the Monsanto AITA Talent Series at the CLTA tennis stadium here today.
Hitting his stroke with power and precision, Digvijay won 6-1, 6-2.
Down by a set, Taranvir Sandhu of Chandigarh staged a brilliant rally as he defeated Kanvardeep Kang of Punjab in a first-round match 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. In another well-contested first round match, Garry Amor prevailed over Tushar Jaitley 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
Amit Chauhan, a trainee of Lake Club, converted his first-set defeat into profit as he beat Aabir Akre of Delhi 1-6, 6-4, 6-0.
Another Lake Club trainee Harmeet Singh defeated Jatin Kharab of 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the boys Under-12 first-round match.
