Congress demands CBI inquiry into mining scam in Karnataka
New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) The Congress Party today demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) be entrusted the inquiry into the incident in which Karnataka ministers were caught on camera asking for bribe from the mining lobby.
AICC spokesman Abishek Manu Singhvi told mediapersons the incident had "displayed the real face" of the Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP who are sharing power in Karnataka. "They are the true torchbearers of the tehelka model under which they see no evil, they hear no evil but only do evil.
"Nowawdays everyone has taken a liking for the word secular. The so-called Janata Dal secular has been depareate to cling to power with the 'secular' BJP. So desperate have they been to cling to power that when sitting ministers are caught on camera, on cd, asking for bribe from the mining lobby the secular founder of the JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda does bat an eyelid," Dr Singhvi said.
"...without even the pretense of an investigation the BJP and the JD(S) are in arms," he said, adding that incidentally, the complainant was also a sitting MLA of the BJP.
