CEAT launches nextgen truck tyres

New Delhi, Sep 18: Taking cognizance of the fundamental changes in the Indian transportation sector, CEAT Ltd today unveiled CEAT Mile-XL -- the nextgen truck tyre for Indian roads.

The Indian transportation industry has witnessed a major change. With improved road network, trucks now have to have the ability to run faster, longer and lighter.

''This can be achieved only with a tyre that has the capability of carrying additional weight as well as perform at a higher speed.

With the launch of Mile-XL, we are catering to this growing need,'' CEAT GM (Marketing) Rajiv Jain said.

Mile-XL is a tyre that derives higher mileage, making it ideal for Indian roads, he added.

CEAT's Mile-XL encapsulates the twin properties of 'Higher Mileage' and 'Cooler Running', each of which previously were mutually exclusive properties in a tyre.

The company's new tyres will offer the fleet owner the key benefit of being able to run longer distances at higher speeds without taking a break, unlike normal tyres, which require regular breaks to cool down.

The tyres' unique design also lowers' the fleet owner's operating costs by delivering higher mileage.

CEAT produces about 8 lakh tyres per annum, capturing an 18 per cent market share in the truck tyre industry.
