Atonement rituals held in Sabarimala

Pathanamthitta, Sep 18 (UNI) As part of the atonement rituals prescribed by the 'devaprasnam,' special poojas were performed at the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple to ''remove the evil elements.'' Tanti Kandararu Rajivararu and Melsanti M Sukumaran Namboodiri performed 'thilahavanam,' 'sayoojya homam' and 'kalkazhukichoottu' poojas today as per the tantric norms.

'Kalkazhukichoottu' is considered as a very rare pooja as it is conducted in the hill shrine after a gap of 20 years.

Temple sources said 'mrityunjaya homam' would be performed tomorrow followed by 'suhrutha homam' the next day.
