Army orders inquiry into Tangdhar shoot-out
Srinagar, Sep 18 (UNI) The Army today ordered an inquiry into the violent clash between troops in Tangdhar area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district yesterday in which two soldiers were killed and as many wounded.
An Army spokesman described the incident as ''unfortunate and negligent discharge of weapons''.
The inquiry in the case was being conducted by a senior officer, who has visited the Karnah tehsil and collected information about the incident, he added.
The shoot-out erupted between troops of the Army Service Corps (ASC) unit in Karnah following a heated argument over some matter resulting in the death of two soldiers and injuries to as many.
''The guilty will be severely punished,'' the spokesman added.
Police have also registered a case and started investigations.
