Alert train driver averts accident
Hubli, Sep 18 (UNI) The presence of mind of the driver of Dharwad-Kanaginahal push-pull train and a timely alert from the driver of a passing goods train helped avert a train accident near this north Karnataka city under South Western Railway.
SWR officials said the goods train driver alerted the push-pull train driver of a strange sound he heard when the rakes of his train passed the track near Kusugal, on the outskirts of the city. The driver stopped the train just ten metres away from the spot, where a crack in the rails was detected between Hubli and Gadag railway stations.
The Bangalore-Hubli Hampi Express and Tirupati-Kolhapur Haripriya Express had just passed the track.
The track was repaired within an hour and traffic was restored, the officials added.
