Acid attack on women: Notices issued to K'taka Govt

Bangalore, Sep 18 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today ordered issuance of notices to the heads of various Government departments on a writ petition, filed by a city-based NGO, seeking directions to the State Government for the prevention, relief and rehabilitation of women victims of acid attacks.

Admitting the petition filed by 'Campaign and struggle against acid attacks on women', Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Mr Justice K Bhaktavatsala issued the notices.

The petitioner contended that acid attacks on women were on the rise in the State and the victims were left high and dry with no relief measure or steps for prevention of such incidence.
