A drug peddler held with brown sugar

Itanagar, Sep 18 (UNI) A person was arrested with brown sugar in Lathao village under Lohit district in Arunachal Pradesh following a raid by Namsai police.

The person, a resident of Dhola in Asom, had 'links' with Dibrugarh based drug smuggler Illahi.

Earlier Namsai police had arrested three-drug peddlers on August 23 from Solongto village under Namsai police station area with brown sugar.

Three districts of Arunachal Pradesh, namely Lohit, Tirap and Changlang, had been facing the drug menace for last few years.

Namsai, Chongkham and Mahadevpur areas of Lohit district, Kharsang, Miao Bordumsa and Diyun areas of Changland district and Deomali in Tirap district-all adjacent to the infamous Golden Triangle are well known for drug trafficking.

Kharsang and Chongkham are the worst affected areas and the law-enforcing agency is not equipped to nab the traffickers, sources said.
