VP Singh trying to float third front in Punjab
Jalandhar, Sep 17 (UNI) Former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh has been making efforts for the formation of a third front in Punjab to give fight to the ruling Congress and opposition Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) combine in the next assembly elections.
Jan Morcha Punjab state president Gyan Chand said here today that Mr Singh had already held several rounds of discussions with leaders of various political parties, including Shiromani Akali Dal(1920), Shiromani Akali Dal(Longowal), Lok Bhalai Party, Communist Party of India (CPI), Lok Janshakti Party and some dalit outfits of Punjab.
He said that the dialogue is in an advanced stage and announcement of floating of the third front in the state might be made soon by Mr Singh himself.
Mr Chand said that the formal announcement would be made in Chandigarh.
He said that the third front would contest each of the 117 assembly seats in the state.
