Two soldiers killed, two wounded as troops clash in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 17 (UNI) Two soldiers were killed and as many seriously wounded when troops of the Army Service Corps (ASC) opened fire on each other following an altercation over some matter in Karnah tehsil of Jammu and Kashmir's frontier district of Kupwara today police said.
The Army has termed the incident as ''unfortunate'' with ''negligent discharge of weapons''.
The Superintendent of Police (SP), Kupwara said ASC troops clashed with each other over some matter in the border area of Karnah.
The altercation soon led the troops to open fire on each other, resulting in the death of two soldiers and injury to another, he added.
The SP said the Karnah police station has registered a case and started investigations, adding the Army would conduct its own inquiry into the incident.
Confirming the shoot-out, a defence spokesman said in an ''unfortunate incident'' in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district today, two soldiers died and as many seriously wounded due to ''negligent discharge of weapons''.
He said the Army would carry out an investigation into the incident.
