CM to head committee on temple improvement
Chennai, Sep 17: The Tamil Nadu Government today formed a committee for effective functioning of all temples coming under the purview of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.
A release here said Chief Minister M Karunanidhi is the Chairman of the committee and HR&CE Minister K R Periyakaruppan, the Vice-Chairman. HR&CE Department Commissioner would be the Member-Secretary.
The committee would suggest ways and means to the government for the upkeep of the administration in all the temples.
Other members of the committee were : The Tamil Development, Culture and HR&CE Seceretary, Kundrakudi Adheenam Ponnambala Adigal, Tirupananthal Mutt Head Muthukumaraswamy Thambiron, Srirangam Srimad Aandavan Swamigal, Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam Sivaprakasa Pandara Sannidhi, Perur Santhalingam Ramaswamy Adigal, Ms Soundaram Kailasam, Former Legislator Ms A S Ponnammal, Mr Karumuthu Kannan and Bannariamman Sugars Limited Managing Director S V Balasubramaniam.
The representative of the Dharmapuri Adheenam would attend the committee meetings as the special invitee, Mr Karunanidhi said in the release here.
