Team TVS steals the thunder

Chennai, Sep 17 (UNI) Team TVS continued their domination in this year's national racing for two wheelers. With Ashwin Sunder, K Rajini and Preetham Dev Moses winning in today's races, Team TVS is all set to seal the top place in all expert classes of the championship, with just one round remaining.

The public had turned out in large numbers to watch the penultimate edition of the Ucal Rolon National Racing Championship 2006 at the M M S T track in Irrungattukottai near Chennai. All the towers were jam-packed including the tower on the outer side of the track, which has never seen a crowd in the last few years.

Race 1 in the Group D 4 stroke 80 to 110 cc saw Ashwin Sundar of Team TVS racing to a great win with a margin of over 5 seconds over his nearest rival Harry Sylvester. Almost edging past Harry to the post for the 3 rd place was P Karthick.

Race 2 saw another blistering effort from the Chennai teenager as Ashwin blazed away to his 2nd successive win. P Karthick initially in 3rd place in a last lap manoeuvre moved past 2nd placed Harry Sylvester to finish in 2nd place.

In Race 1 of the Group D 4 stroke category 111 to 160 cc, it was tough outing for Ashwin Sundar who was relegated to a fifth place finish. A tough duel ensued between K Rajini of Team TVS and P Karthick for the top slot ended with Rajini just squeezing ahead to win the race. Emmanuel Jebaraj finished a close third. Ashwin came back with a vengeance to dominate and finish Race 2 on a positive note. K Rajini and P Karthick fought it out for the 2nd place, but K Rajini's experience saw him through, forcing Karthick to settle for 3rd place.

K Rajini of Team TVS was off to a good start in Race 1 of the Group B 4 stroke 111 to 160 cc class and built up a comfortable lead and held on till the finish. Finishing in 2nd place was K Vinoth followed by P Karthick.

K Rajini continued in the same vein in Race 2 to notch up his 2nd successive victory in this class. In 2nd place was Preetham while K Vinoth finished 3rd.

In Group C 2 stroke 111 to 150 cc category, it was Preetham Dev Moses of Team TVS at his best in Race 1 as he triumphed by a huge margin of over 10 seconds. Finishing in second place was Ashwin Sundar while Ganesh Prasad came third.

In Race 2 misfortune struck Preetham in the form of a flat tyre forcing him out of the race with only a couple of laps to go. This gave K Rajini the opportunity to move up and take the chequered flag. Veteran racer Sriskandaraja got his only podium finish of the day by taking the 2nd place while Ashwin Sundar finished a very distant third.

K Vinoth won the race in the moped category comfortably. K Umesh Babu and E Raffi finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
