Tabla virtuoso pays tributes on shehnai king's 'Chaliswan'

Varanasi, Sep 17 (UNI) Tabla virtuoso Padma Vibhushan Pandit Kishan Maharaj today offered floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan on the 'Chaliswan' of the shehnai legend, who passed away here on August 21.

The octagenerian tabla virtuoso, who has not shared the best of relations with the shehnai king during the latter's lifetime, went to the Karballeh Fatimaan here and offered floral triubtes at the grave of Khan Sahib.

The 'Chaliswan' marking the culmination of period of mourning for music icon's demise began early morning with Quran Khwani at the Karballeh Fatimaan, ensued by Taziyate Nazmein and Pehkhwani.

A Majlis was later held at the same spot to be followed by Namaze-e-Zohrain. The mourning culminated with the Janane Majlis (prayer by women) at Khan Sahib's Sarai Harha residence.

Later, Union Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi also visited Khan Sahib's residence and met the family members.
