Shekhawat's call for help initiates donation from MP

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) In response to Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat's call to help the flood victims of Rajasthan, Member of Parliament from Pali, Push Jain has assured to donate Rs 53 lakhs on behalf of Oswal Jain Samaj, a release issued here today said.

Mr Shekhawat had made this call at a function to mark the 53rd death anniversary of Guru Vallabh Surishwar Ji Maharaj, under the auspices of Shrimad Vijay Nityanand Surishwar Ji Maharaj at Barmer.

He said it is the duty of all voluntary organisations and dedicated social workers to come forward to provide assistance to the flood victims as only Government efforts could not be sufficient to meet relief and rehabilitation demand, given the large scale devastation caused due to flood in Rajasthan.

The Vice-President had also released a book on Vallabh Jeevan Jignasa, on this occasion. Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Jaswant Singh also expressed his views in the function attended by a large number of state Government Ministers and officials.

Mr Shekhewat, before proceeding to Falna visited a temporary shelter for the flood victims in Magra where 400 tents have been set up to accomodate 200 displaced families of village Kavas for whom local administration and social organisations have provided requisite facilities, the release added.
