Ramu Memorial Basketball tournament to begin from Oct 11

Mumbai, Sep 17 (UNI) The prestigious 23rd Ramu Memorial Basketball Tournament will be held in the Indian Gymkhana at Matunga in Central Mumbai from October 11 to 18.

The tournament, which coincides with the Indian Gymkhana, is one of the most popular basketball events in the city and country and was last held in 1994.

Being revived after a hiatus of 12 years, this year international teams, like the Kenyans, will participate. Their national champion Ulinzi Warriors is the star attraction.

The formidable Kenyans will be challenged by the best teams in India including Indian Overseas Bank and Indian Bank (Chennai), Army XI (Delhi), ONGC (Dehradun), Customs and Central Excise (Cochin), Western Railway (Ratlam) and the Punjab state squad.

Among the women, Southern Railway, MTNL (Delhi), Central Railway (Mumbai) and Western Railway (Mumbai) will be participating.
