'Periyar' remembered, floral tributes on birth anniversary

Pondicherry, Sep 17 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to rationalist leader E V Ramaswamy, fondly called 'Periyar,' on his 128th birth anniversary here today.

Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Lok Sabha member from Pondicherry Prof M Ramadass, legislators and senior officals of the territorial administration were among others who garlanded the statue of Periyar here, on behalf of the territorial administration.

Leaders of DMK, AIADMK, MDMK, DK, PMK and Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam , also garlanded the statue to mark the occasion.
