Opp to RSS decision shows Cong frustration
Bhopal, Sep 17: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the objection to the government's decision on lifting ban on its officials from taking part in RSS activities was the result of the opposition parties' frustation.
The Congress and other parties had approached court several times earlier seeking imposition of ban on the RSS. However, the RSS has never stopped its activities,'' Mr Chouhan told reporters here.
He said the RSS was involved in nation building and cultural activities through creative work.
Pointing out that government officials were not being forced to take part in RSS activities, he said, ''Participation in RSS activities is optional for them.'' On the Congress threat to move court regarding lifting of the ban, the Chief Minister said the Congress has been unable to forget its defeat and its opposition to lifting the ban exposed its frustration.
On demand by ABVP workers for a CBI inquiry into Professor H S Sabharwal's case, he said the CID was investigating the matter.
He ensured that the government would neither entrap nor shield anyone in the case.
Regarding the court statement about DGP Swaraj Puri, he said the government had not received any report in this regard.
