Myanmar's leader seeks cooperation to restore democracy
Kathmandu, Sep 17 (UNI) Myanmar's Minister in Exile and the leader of National League for Democracy Dr Tint Swe appealed to the people of Nepal to support the country in its efforts to restore democracy there, media reports said.
"There were 28 resolutions passed in the UN General Assembly seeking restoration of democracy in Myanmar in the past but we have not received democracy yet," The Kathmandu Post quoted Swe as saying.
"So my party is going to raise the issue in UN Security Council and I am here to seek the solidarity of Nepal," he added.
Dr Swe stressed the need for raising the issue of democracy collectively in the entire South Asian region.
