Midday meals scheme not to be given to ISKCON: MMPWWA

Rajahmundry, Sep 17 (UNI) The Midday Meals Preparation Women Welfare Association (MMPWWA) has today demanded that their association should be allowed to continue the preparation of midday meals, instead of giving it to International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

Addressing mediapersons MMWWA President N Vasundhara said they were preparing midday meals in 84 schools in the corporation limits, without any complaint since January 2003. Now the government's scheme to hand over the midday meals scheme to ISKCON was unjustifiable. Even the government did not inform them about the decision, she added.

Talking at the occasion MMPWAA Secretary Padmaja said the Association had been preparing midday meals, while the government paid only one rupee per student, despitehuge price hike.

On one side government said they were for women development but the MMPWWA was being sent out after rendering service without giving even a pie as compensation, they criticised.
