Low pressure to bring in more rains in AP
Visakhapatnam, Sep 17 (UNI) Low pressure today persisted over the west central bay off north coastal Andhra Pradesh and its adjoining areas, which might result in rain or thundershowers at many places in the region during the next 48 hrs.
According to the Cyclone Warning Centre here today, isolated heavy rains are also likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period, the centre said.
Strong surface winds from the westerly direction with a 45-50 kmph speed, are likely along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hrs.
The amount of rainfall recorded in cm is -- Repalle eight, Guntur seven, Visakhapatnam airport and Ongole five each, Gannavaram airport and Machilipatnam four each, Narsapuram, Kalingapatnam, Waltair, Tenali and Bapatla three cm each, the centre added.
Meanwhile, a report from Hyderabad said the south west monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh and active over Telangana today.
The state meteorological department said isolated rain occurred over Rayalaseema. Isolated heavy rain is likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next 48 hours.
Moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and many places over Rayalaseema.
