Irate villagers block road to Bhusan steel

Sambalpur, Sep 17 (UNI) The agitated villagers of Babukhinda under Sambalpur Sadar sub-division today blocked the approach road to Bhusan Steel plant in protest against the acquisition of village forest land by the company.

They alleged that the company has destroyed the village forest and constructed a road on it for private use. The approach road to the Bhusan Steel has been constructed by felling trees in the village forest, a resident of Babukhinda Hemant Raut said.

He said the company have destroyed a large number of trees in the construction of the approach road to the plant as stipulated in the guidelines.

The Police forces have been deployed by the district administration. Efforts are one for an amicable settlement to solve the issue, Katarbaga police station officer in-charge S.R.Mohapatra said.
