IMI wins 3rd National competition amongst 135 teams

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi has bagged the third National Competition for Management Students (NCMS) award from a total of 135 teams that participated in the event from all over India.

The All India Management Association (AIMA) hosted the grand finale of the third NCMS here, where twelve teams from India's leading business schools competed. Symbiosis Centre for Management&HRD (SCMHRD) and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) were the second and third winners respectively.

The presentations were based on innovative ideas backed by research and analysis of data from major findings. The teams then made presentations before an eminent panel of judges, representatives from Hero Honda, SAIL, C-DOT, Indian Institute of Petroleum Management and Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon.

A total of 135 teams participated in the competition. Three regional rounds in Mumbai, Coimbatore and New Delhi, where the participants submitted a presentation, preceded the grand finale of NCMS.

The winning team will get an opportunity to go for an industrial visit to Macau and Pearl River Delta. They will also present their paper at a special session -- Connecting Across Generations at the 33rd National Management Convention, AIMA's flagship event in New Delhi on October 7, 2006.

'Strategies for Building Sustainable Indian Brands' was chosen as the theme for this years' NCMS by some of India's best minds like the US-based Monitor Group.

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd Director (Human Resources) and IBP Managing Director V C Agrawal was the chief guest for the event.

According to AIMA Director-General G K Nischol, ''In order to create a great brand, you need to know whom you want as customers.'' To this Mr V C Agrawal added, ''With Indian companies on an acquisition spree, the Indian corporates are more confident and better equipped to do just that.'' The participants included ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA), Symbiosis Centre for Management&HRD, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Nirma Institute of Management, International Management Institute and Faculty of Management Studies.

AIMA has been conducting the Management Aptitude Test (MAT), which is a widely accepted form of entrance testing for all management schools.
