Kolkata, Sep 17: Hyderabad-based Ramky group will be the anchor developer for proposed pharma SEZ at Haldia.

The pharma SEZ would have an area of 3,000 acre. The pharma SEZ would be the third SEZ in Haldia, West Bengal Commerce and Industry Minister Nirupam Sen said.

Indonesia-based Salim group was developing a multi product and a chemical SEZ in the port town on 22,500 acres.

According to the industry minister, the land acquisition for the proposed pharma SEZ would start soon.

Besides, the state government was keen on having sector specific SEZs in the backward districts of the state.

"We are looking for proposals from private parties for this. But so far we have got only one proposal in Siliguri," he added.

Meanwhile, the Eastern India Ball Bearing Merchants Association has also asked for 75 acres of land for an industrial spares park.

Mr Sen said the state government was actively considering the proposal for allocation of land near the Kona Express highway leading out from Kolkata.

The association said the park would have manufacturers and distributors of bearings, hardware, tools, instruments, spares etc.
