Germany pip Australia 4-3, lift World Cup title
Monchengladbach, Sep 17 (UNI) Germany's red rag obduracy saw the hosts do a Houdini and bounce back from a 1-3 deficit to pip Australia 4-3 and emerge as world hockey champions.
In the 70-minute thriller, Germany dound a new hero in Christopher Zeller, winner of the World Hockey young player of the year 2006, who opened the account and barely 15 minutes before the final hooter, scored the winner.
For the winners, Moritz Fuerste and Bjoern Emmerling were the other scorers while Australia's goal-getters were Mark Knowles, Matthew Naylor and Troy Elder.
Australia led 2-1 at breather.
