Gandhinagar gearing up for vibrant Navratri
Gandhinagar, Sep 17 (UNI) Artists from all over the world will present their repertoire of colourful dance in the inaugural ceremony of the Vibrant Gujarat Navratri Moahotsav-2006 beginning here from September 23.
Dance troupes from Indonesia, Bhutan, Israel, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, Bangladesh and Astra Khan have confirmed their participation. Besides folk artists from Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Assam, Manipur, Haryana, Punjab, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Mizoram would present their traditional dance. Many dance troupes from Gujarat would also participate in the Mahotsav.
''The identity of Gujarat is the famous Garba and it has become dear to me'', said Swarnadeepa from Kerala who is heading a cultural troupe 'Kala Tarangini.' ''My organisation will do its best to popularise Garbo in Kerala,'' she said.
Prashant Mishra from Orissa is also heading a troupe here and said that he and his co-artistes have begun to like the Gujarati food and hospitality. His troupe would be displaying the famous Odissin dance ''Dasa Bhuja Gotipua'' during the nine-day Navratri festival.
