Kuala Lumpur, Sep 17 (UNI) In an effort to prevent rain from playing spoilsport, the start of play for the second round of preliminary matches in the DLF Cup has been brought forward by one hour to 1.30 pm local time.

This change will take effect from tomorrow with the game between Australia and the West Indies.

This change has been made to provide the maximum opportunity for the games to be completed in the event of a weather interruption.

The change will see the scheduled hours of play become 1.30 pm - 9.15pm .

Umpires will then have 90 minutes of extra time available to them to use in the event of a weather interruption, allowing for play to be extended up until 10.45 pm.

This change was made with the full support of ICC Match Referee, Chris Broad, all teams, the umpires, Board of Control of Cricket in India, Malaysian Cricket Association and with host broadcaster, Zee Sport.

This change applies to the three remaining preliminary matches at this stage.
