Cong MP seeks hike in MPLAD Fund money
Varanasi, Sep 17 (UNI) Congress MP from Varanasi Rajesh Mishra today demanded a hike in the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) Fund.
Addressing a function here for the deaf and dumb, Dr Mishra demanded that a hike in MPLAD fund money had become vital especially in view of the size of parliamentary constituencies.
''My constituency itself houses 5 assembly seats, which means that the share of every assembly segment will be Rs 40 lakh only. But think of those MPs whose constituencies house six to ten assembly segments .... is it possible to usher development with Rs two crore annually,'' questioned Dr Mishra.
''The annual Rs two crore amount in MPLAD either be hiked or the fund itself be scrapped,'' Dr Mishra demanded before Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi, who was the chief guest of the school function.
