CM reiterates his committment to remove backlog in Marathwada
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today reiterated his commitment towards the eradication of economic backwardness in the Marathwada region in central Maharashtra.
Addressing a special programme commemorating the anniversary of the 'Marathwada Mukti Sangram'(Marathwada Freedom Struggle) here, Mr Deshmukh said he has been making sincere efforts for resolving vexed various issues besides undertaking development of the region.
The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their life during the freedom movement.
Addressing a rally of the freedom fighters organised by the Swami Ramananda Tirth Marathwada Research Institute Mr Deshmukh said that priority would be accorded to irrigation while undertaking development in the Marathwada region.
Referring to the series of farmer's suicides in the state even as the state government has been addressing the issue, Mr Deshmukh asked non-government organisations (NGOs) to come forward to enhance confidence of the farmers to face the situation.
The Chief Minister felicitated 25 drivers of the Maharashtra State Road Trasnport Corporation (MSRTC) along with their spouses for their 25 years service, without any accident, at a function organised by the MSRTCs Aurangabad division here today.
