Chinnappa wins Second Bangalore International Marathon

Bangalore, Sep 17 (UNI) H A Chinnappa braced 41.95 km with a timing of two hours, 25 minutes and 19 seconds to lift the Full Marathon title in the second Bangalore International Marathon held here today.

Ethiopia runner Ragassa had to be satisified with second place as he finished eight seconds behind Chinnappa. Bipul Sharma of India won third place.

In Women Section Deepthi Ashok of India lifted the title by finishing the run in 13:13 hrs, while C Suma and M Kala won second and third place respectively.

Army runner Irappa D Akki bagged the Half Marathon title by finishing the run in one hour 04:21 seconds, while P Nagendra Rao and Radha Krishnan were placed second and third.

In Women section K B lifted the Half Marathon title when she finished the run with a timing of one hour 23:55 seconds. K Maheshwari and Asha S Baranna won second and third place respectively.

The Athletic Federation of India declined to recognise the event as the organisers failed to pay the necessary fees of Rs 10 Lakhs for recognition.

Electronics for Imaging India Private Limited, (EFI) was the special sponsors of the Marathon.

Women: K B 1:23:55 Secs I, K Maheshwari 1:24:04 Secs II, Asha S Baranna 1:34:54 Secs III.
