Hyderabad, Sep 17 (UNI) CPI National Council member and MP S Sudhakar Reddy today alleged that the BJP was distorting the facts on 'Telangana Freedom Struggle', in which thousands of people and CPI activists sacrificed their lives during struggle against Nizam's rule after 1947.

Participating in 59th anniversary of Telangana armed struggle organised by the CPI here, Mr Reddy alleged that the BJP was depicting the struggle as 'Hindus revolt against Muslim rule in Hyderabad princely state during 1948 and communalising the struggle to gain political benefit'.

Stating that the Muslims supported the Telangana freedom struggle and Hindu land lords opposed the struggle, he said the BJP and its outfits neither participated in the struggle nor supported it.

Mr Reddy said the CPI had urged the state government to install the statue of R Narayana Reddy who fought in the struggle and establish a memorial in memory of Telangana Freedom struggle in the heart of the city.

Stating that the 'land to tiller' slogan was raised during the liberation struggle in Telangana, CPI Deputy leader in Lok Sabha C K Chandrappan said, ''we should remember the martyrs and educate the future generations about the sacrifice of CPI leaders during the struggle''.

He said the liberation struggle in Telagnana, Junaghad and Travancore, after Independence, was a result of British 'divide and rule' policy, which separated India and Pakistan.
