Bhupathi-Ancic pair lifts doubles title in China Open

Beijing, Sep 17 (UNI) Tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi and his comrade-in-arms from Croatia Mario Ancic swamped the Michael Berrer-Kenneth Carlsen pair in straight sets to lift the double title in the China Open here today.

Capping their good run in the tournament, Bhupathi and Ancic downed the Germane-Danish pair 6-4, 6-3 to lift the title.

Ancic shrugged off his singles semifinal defeat at the hand of Marcus Baghdatis earlier today and joined Bhupathi in the duobles summit clash.

Bhupathi and Ancic were always in control of the proceedings and never allowed their opponents to settle into any rhythm.

The Berrer-Carlsen pair tried everything in the book but Bhupathi and Ancic's experience stood them in good stead and they were never pushed throughout the match and in the end, it was a rather easy final match for them.
