Belgaum Session to discuss North Karnataka problems

Gulbarga, Sept 17 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said that the five-day Special session of the legislature beginning from September 25 in Belgaum will discuss the problems faced by the North Karnataka.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that it was a long pending demand of the people of North Karnataka region to hold Legislative session in Belgaum and Governor T N Chaturvedi has been invited to address the Joint Session.

Mr Kumaraswamy, who was here to participate in the celebration of Hyderabad-Karnataka Liberation day, ruled out possibility of holding Assembly Session Gulbarga. "It is not possible to hold Assembly session in every district. However efforts were made to address the problems of all the regions." Allaying doubts over the controversial 'Sobha Yatra' in Chickmaglur during Dattajayanthi, he said that the Coordination Committee set up for the purpose would looking into all aspects before giving its opinion on the issue.

Replying to a question, he said that the State Government would support the state wide bandh call given by various Kannada organisations on October Four to mount pressure on the Centre over the border issue with Maharashtra.

Mr Kumaraswamy assured to include Hyderabad-Karnataka region liberation struggle in the school books to infuse patriotism in the minds of children Replying to a question, he said that the government would take appropriate decision soon over renaming of Hyderabad-Karnataka Region as Kalyana-Karnataka Region.
